Hi, Joe!

Welcome to the forum! The reason I have started this forum is to try to involve more people all around the world in our hobby of collecting film and film related items.

I have added a couple of unique items under Member's Auctions and Screening Rooms.

More ideas are in the works.

I just want to have a friendly forum where everyone who loves film can feel comfortable.

Nice place you've got here, Dan. Once you've had the decorators in to spruce it up and give it that personal touch I'm sure it'll be as welcoming as Kev's place, and of course Brad's. Good luck with the new venture.

Hi Dan,
First I want to say "good luck" with your own 8mm forum.
I think they are enough film forums and especially 8mm forums, but if you want make your forum different, please ad few forums in different languages.
I think they are few more collectors online, but they don´t speak english and they can´t use the existing forums.
It would be nice if you create a part of this forum in german and maybe also in italian, french or other languages.
It would be fit to the title of your forum "8mm Forum Worldwide".
What do you think?
Regards
Oemer

Oemer, that is a very interesting idea. Not quite sure how it would work though. Do you mean have duplicate categories for different languages?

Dan, I know Wittner Cinetec has tabs on their site to auto-translate to English from German, so does Cine 8-16 website. It has to be a simple code they use. EDIT: Cine 8-16 does not have the translation option, my mistake. I was reading it in English using Babelfish

If all else fails, you can have a http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ tab with instructions in several languages on how to use it.

Example:

Wayne, I understand and remember using those options on other websites. That would truly make this site international. I will check into it very soon and get back. :)

Dan, I mean only one forum in each language, not all forums of this board in different languages, that is too much.
I think under the first forum "8mm Discussion" the next= "8mm Discussion/german", "8mm Discussion/italian", "8mm Discussion/french"
The other Forums only as is in english.
Regards
Oemer

Hi Oemer,

In theory it's a great idea.

However, wouldn't Dan then need a moderator who can speak each of these languages, or a team of moderators each of whom has one of the languages? Otherwise, who would know what was being said?
