Hey, it's December 6 already??!! Time for the annual "Who's putting on a holiday screening this year" question. C'mon Forum members--tell us what special festive reels you plan to toss up onto the big screen. I'm cataloging every Christmas oriented movie I have in my collection and will draw a couple fine programs from that list and grace my friends with a festive show. One film I've become fonder of through the years is "A Child's Christmas in Wales"; that little masterpiece has easily worked its way to my "must screen" list. It's the Denholm Elliott 1987 tv version and I think it's some of the most evocative and enjoyable film you'll ever encounter. So what are you folks planning?

We are having our annual Christmas matinee for kids tomorrow at 2:00. We are expecting about 8 kids and their parents. A full house! First up is The Littlest Angel then The Little Brown Burro, The 12 Days of Christmas and a Merry Mirthworm Christmas. I should be able to get some pictures up tomorrow evening.

Mike, is "The Littlest Angel" the EB Films version? I think that is one of the best, especiallyif it is on good color stock.

We're having a Christmas show Sunday 16th. I am tossing around a few titles, but haven't settled on a feature yet. Maybe Derann's Die Hard in LPP scope. It's full of Christmas songs and gaity! [set5_b/set5_b/smash.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/driving.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/beatdeadhorse5.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/boxing_smiley.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/smilielol5.gif] . Or, maybe Hard Days Night on 16mm. Who knows, a technicolor musical form the early fifties might even be better. I will include in line up some of Wayne Tuell's great snipes I have collected along with selected shorts.

Ho. ho, ho. [set5_b/set5_b/cheers2.gif]

My parent's always want me to stick around after everyone has left and showing them films from my collection has become a tradition. This year I am showing a Christmas Carol 1934? and if I can keep the projector running Lethal Weapon in optical sound. I say if I can keep it running because the only optical sound machine I have right now is a beat-up worn out Sankyo projector from the trenches. Have a new optical Elmo on the way after the new year but have to rely on an older one for now. Also have a couple Christmas cartoons to show.

Christmas Film Shows were such a happy tradition in this house: when the three kids were little, we had annual Christmas parties for them and their friends and amidst the games and fun foods I always showed a 1200' reel of Super 8 cartoons... "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"..."The Shanty Where Santy Claus Lives"... Tom and Jerry in the great "Night Before Christmas" ...and of course the surreal "Christmas Comes But Once A Year". It all wrapped up with the Disney 200' version of "The Small One". As well, I always ensured a screening of "It's A Wonderful Life" and "March of the Wooden Soldiers" at some point in the season. Well, the years passed and now the "kids" are all grown up and moved 1000s of miles away and I have a different audience; I like them alot but they're not my kids. It's mostly 16mm now and I have a beautiful print of "Miracle on 34th Street" (thanks, Dino Everitte) and my perfect print of "A Child's Christmas in Wales" (1987 version with Denholm Elliott) and a near complete collection of all the Castle Films Christmas shorts. Plus some Christmas Seals trailers with Clark Gable, Ray Milland and Virginia Mayo. How about the Warner Bros. 1940s "Star in the Night" and the Encyclopaedia Brittanica "The Littlest Angel" (in gorgeous color)...and the "Gift of the Magi" section of "O.Henry's Full House" feature...the 1954 Waterfront tv show Christmas episode..."Christmas at the Clampetts" when Granny mistakes a tv set for a washing machine...and "The Night of Meek" Twilight Zone masterpiece with Art Carney...and speaking of which, the great "Honeymooners" episode "The Night Before Christmas"... I need to get to work and program these Christmas shows...

That's an excellent collection there, Chris. I've been looking for years for that Honeymooners episode.
Another print I don't see around much is "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation".

Hi Dan, The littlest Angel is a Coronet film. Mine is black and white but I have seen color versions on ebay. Here is the only picture that came out ok. Its from The Little Brown Burro. The kids loved the cookie exchange and so did I [set5_b/set5_b/hurray.gif] The littlest kids kept saying "more TV?" We had a good turnout and even the parents liked the films. They liked the Mirthworms best.

Mike, my mistake. My print is a Coronet. It's on a no fade stock.

More TV. That's funny. I wish we had some small kids to do film shows for. In the past I acquired some animated features for my Grandkids, but they showed zero interest??? [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/reddevil.gif]

Well, I finally have a Christmas show lined up. The gathering will be tomorrow evening with seven people. First will be a 16mm line up consisting of: Planet Hollywood Coke snipe, The Ghastly Love of Johnny X trailer, A 1962 Puss 'N Boots Cat food commercial in I.B. Tech with scantilly clan twin girls selling cat food, A Castle Musical Moment consisiting of Stone Cold Dead In The Market and The Chiquita Banana Song, a 1950 Let's All Go To The Lobby snipe. Then I switch the Bell & Howell 16mm to an Elmo GS-1200 and show Aliens! While the show is in progress we will be stuffing our faces with Manicotti, Salad, and adult beverages hoping monster will not leap through our chests. [set5_b/set5_b/lurk5.gif]
