Hi Members

Would like to have an outdoor movie night with my neighbors. Can you tell me the do's and don'ts. Will I hurt the projector by it being outdoors. Have a regular movie screen that I use for indoors; just your average 8mm movie screen. Works fine inside, Will be ok outside.

Any help you could give me would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ron Green

Hi Ron,

Sounds like a great idea. Other members here have put on outdoor shows and I'm sure they'll have advice for ya. Unless it rains though, I can't think of any harm that may come to the projector.

What are you planning on showing?

Rain is everything also wind. Other than that everything should be fine. Try to get an external speaker near or under the screen. Ply your audience with booze this will help the experience greatly.

Set your projector in a gazebo or else get one of those giant beach umbrellas to put up over the projector. The reason for doing this is the night moisture condensing onto the projector. This can make film stick to itself, fog the projector lens, or rust projector parts. Setting the projector inside a tent is also helpful.

Get a high velocity fan to blow the bugs away from the projector.

If you have a glass window or door that faces your screening area, you could project through that from inside the house.

I agree. If it's possible to keep the projector under cover, then I would do so.
