Well...I'm not sure, of course...but I don't reckon it's likely he would have gotten that many (20 or so) reels from Fred. So, I guess he may be telling the truth about this lady he's selling for.

Who knows??

I do not believe him. There have been too many lies and deceptive listings. An elderly lady who's selling her deceased husbands collection contacts this guy. And oh! It just happens she forgot to include these 20 Elmo aluminum reels??? What collector has that many spare Elmo aluminum reels? Hold on! I know, Osgood does.

From looking at our Super 8MM Feature collection, I find that most features require either two or three 1200' Elmo reels.
Now if you calculate that, it would only take somewhere between six and ten features to come up with those 20 or so
empty reels. From the sales that can be associated to Fred(by using his previous film lists), the only logical conclusion
is that these reels did come from Fred's features.

And why would an elderly lady remove her husband's features from reels to send those to someone to sell? Then send
the reels separately? Just does not make any sense that this is the scenario. Just saying...

Based on his past record, I'm inclined to think he's probably being dishonest somewhere here, but...we'll never know.

Of course you never know based on his words. You have to get the truth from someone else, .i.e. Fred or, if she exists, the elderly lady.

How obvious can it be?

An elderly lady who communicates only by letters.

And just as amusing are the inexplicably varying prices for a pair.
$79.50
$79.25
$79.05
$80.00
$79.15
$79.95
Etc, etc.

Wacky.

Too many "coincidences" if you ask me.
