Hi everyone,

I've got a Fujicascope SM1 Super 8 projector, but I'm not managing to find the projector speed change dial/setting.

It seems to work fine but the sound is super low - like perhaps it's playing too slowly.

According to this link, it has 18 or 24 fps options but I can't physically locate them on the projector: http://super8data.com/database/projectors_list/projectors_fuji/projectors_fuji.htm

Has anyone had/played with one of these before?

Thanks!

Hi, Anaisa. Welcome!

Open the back of the projector. There should be one belt attached to one of the motor pulleys. The belt closest to the motor is for 24 fps and the outer pulley is 18 fps. Looks like you have to switch the belt manually.

Thanks!
I see what you mean but it's proving quite difficult as the belt is right up against the back "wall" of the projector.

Took a lot of fiddling but I got it moved over! Going to do a test run now and see if it changes the sound at all!

It suddenly started tearing up the film!

I have to stop experimenting for today but I will be back at it tomorrow.

Thanks for your help so far!

Yes, but I have now moved the belt over one notch closer to the motor.

Did you move to the inner pulley on the motor and the inner pulley above the motor?

Yes, I managed to move it on both.

Not sure why it chewed your film. Might want to test it with a film you don't mind getting damaged. If it played on the other speed and it was the wrong speed, the sound would have been sped up and sound like chipmunks. Is the belt stretched and sagging?
