So now I'm really looking close at the rollers I replaced. Though they're plenty loose, the film isn't moving them. When I coax them, everything falls into place including the optical eye. I hear sound. Then the machine settles into its groove and the rollers no longer make the proper contact and the sound vanishes.
So where do I purchase rubber rollers?

Greetings
Before you buy the rubber rollers
Un loosen the nut on the Large flange roller
And move that roller back an forth to get better sound with film
when you get better sound re tighten the nut
Did you lube the roller shafts ?
I have the correct rollers in stock there on my web site

I flipped over one of the new rollers and it now makes full contact and works! Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I’ll be checking out your web site. Thanks again.

I celebrated too early. Life got in the way and I had to run out after the most basic of checks.
So the sound is there, but it's kinda low and very scratchy. Like an old 78 speed record.
Possibly the volume control itself?

I've tried loosening the nut on the large flange roller to adjust the sound, but it has no wiggle room. Still have scratchy sound.

Without running the film
Turn the volume control knob back & forth
Do you still get the low and very scratchy sound?

Nope. Scratchy only when film is running.
