Last year I acquired a 5x400' print of the Hammer House Of Horror release of The Reptile. If you can find it, get it. It's a nice change from the string of Hammer Draculas. On polyester magnetic sound and LPP color, it's a real crowd pleaser. I am going to have to rerecord the original soundtrack on the last two reels. When I received the print reels 1,2, and 3 had fresh rerecorded sound that was bright and clean. The last two reels aren't that bad though. I love to see the pretty lady slowly evolve into a cobra. After you've been bitten by her, you're a nice tidy disgusting site laying on the floor. [set5_b/set5_b/nopity.gif]

A Hammer Films Production from 1966.
Synopsis - Harry Spalding and his wife Valerie inherit a cottage in a small country village after his brother mysteriously dies. The locals are unfriendly and his neighbor Dr. Franklyn (a doctor of theology) suggests they leave. They decide to stay only to find that a mysterious evil plagues the community.

'The Reptile' was made back-to-back with another good Hammer film, 'The Plague Of The Zombies' using the same location. Zombies also had an 8mm release, a neatly edited 4 X 400 version which used to go down well with my audiences.

BTW, The S8mm 'Reptile' was superior to the UK DVD release.

Am I mistaken in thinking these were Derann releases?

Mike, it did not say on the box. I checked the leader on reel one and couldn't find any information I'll check the other leeders later.

Mal, Zombies are very popular now. I don't know if it's because of the high population of baby boomer wives or what. [set5_b/set5_b/smilielol5.gif] I'd love to find The Plague Of The Zombies.

I had watched the Reptile a few times on TV, but was not impressed until I watched this print.
