The projector would need to be set up to deal with the added heat released by the 150 W bulb.
For example: Elmo ST-600, ST-180 and ST-800 all use EFP (12v,100W) and ST-1200 uses EFR(15V, 150W) and all of these are structurally similar.
Do the ST-600 and Friends have enough cooling air to handle the extra heat?
-I dunno...maybe...maybe not
(Proving it could get nasty.)
To tell you the truth I don't think a conversion would really be worth it. I was messing around with my ST-800 and ST-1200HD a few months ago. I turned on both lamps at the same time and put the beams next to each other on screen. The 150W beam from the '1200HD was undeniably brighter than the 100W, but it wasn't exactly as if I was looking at the surface of the sun!
This was with an identical optical settup between the machines, the only difference was the lamp (both lamps pretty new...)
The interesting part was that the ST-1200HD on low lamp was slightly dimmer than the ST-800.
