Does anyone here do change overs. I wish my screening room projector box could hold more than one projector. I'm trying figure out a way to do it soundproof without building a walk in booth. This way I wouldn't have to splice shows together, but rather que up two or more projectors.

I would love to be able to do change overs. I don't even have a booth but I've often thought about just setting up two projectors when I do a show and just giving it a go.

Even when I worked as a projectionist in 35 the changover days had gone and I had a single projector with a Westrex tower system.

I'm not sure I'd have the time to get the prints in proper order these days to be honest.

I don't bother with change overs much anymore. The wife & kids like taking the time between reels to load up on "snacks" if they need them

At one time I thought about making a power box with multiple outlets each controlled by a light switch run next to my chair in order to control the power to each projector as needed.

I think if I was to do it, I'd prefer to try and do it totally manually, without the aid of one of those controls I've sometimes seen around. It shouldn't be that difficult with a bit of coordination.

I can't do 'em perfectly but I do them.

I used to do a two-handed deal where I had one hand on each machine's selector knob and I'd simultaneously swap machines. Lately this doesn't work anymore because I've built a sound system and there is a switch on the table I have to throw to swap the audio from one machine to the other. I'm working on a system to dispense with this switch but until I do my dance has an extra step which throws off my rhythm.

Unfortunately many commercial Super-8 prints don’t have their cue marks in the right places so a proper changeover involving starting the new machine at the cue mark and then lighting its lamp as the other machine goes dark is not as easy as it should be.

When I'm watching by myself I have a code of conduct that covers things like changeovers: If I didn't see it, it didn't happen. When I'm changing over I don't look at the screen.

-perfect changeovers every time!
