My S912s film gate is difficult to access in order to clean. Is there something that I can do to access it more easily or is this a problem with these models?

The only thing I don't like about Eumigs is you can't remove a film half way through projection. It is literally locked in the film path. I use cotton swabs and Film renew or Film Guard. You can also follow up by dipping a three foot piece of scrap film in a cleaner and running it through the projector a few times.

Thanks Dan,

Never thought about running a piece of treated film through it.

As usual I have to agree with Dan. I have an 807 unit and the picture was floating up and down on a couple films. I was running an older reg. 8 film and just got totally annoyed at the problem so while the film was running I sprayed some Filmrenew on a cloth and wrapped it around the incoming film. Totally fixed the problem within a few seconds. Since the 807 is a dual 8 machine I repeated the fix with the super 8 gate. No problems running films since. Both super and regular 8 films run smooth and steady. You may want to use a junk print to treat in this method if you have a fixed gate but it does work.

Also, if you do have a fixed gate and are using a treated film that you wanna keep, use a dry cotten cloth on the film exiting the machine because it will pull the gunk out of the projector and transfer it to the film. If you need to clean the sound heads then a little more than three feet should clean it out with this method.
