Hi Dan,

Actually pretty good. Both were nice clean prints.

Just showed a two 400' reel new print of Caravan to Vaccares on super 8 in scope to some friends that I just recieved. (Just recieved the print not the friends. They are used to my wierd ways). Color wan't that great but what caught my eye was how dense the grain of the film was. The screen was about 9 foot wide and only about 3 1'2 foot tall but the focus was perfect and sharp as I've seen on any print. It was made by Iver Studios which I think is a European company. Was shown on a Eumig 807D through a Sankor Scope 7 lens plus the stock lens on the 807. Scope image was perfect with no distortions. Don't think this was a widely distributed film but looked so good I had to post about it.

Iver Films were based at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire .
They had some good titles in their catalogue - even brought the original 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' to super8.
One of my favourites was the the 2x400 scope version of 'Gold' with Roger Moore. The cut-down was better than the feature (just my opinion)

Just watched THE BARBER SHOP in 16mm prior to listing a print on eBay (I upgraded my print). The W.C. Fields/ Mack Sennett shorts look better and seem funnier each time I roll them.

Watched this near flawless print--Columbia rolled out some great films in the 50s

Just screened my latest eBay acquisition: an RKO 1950 16mm sound Leon Errol theatrical short subject release SPOOKY WOOKY. Leon moves his family from the city to a countryside haunted house. This was one of Leon's later efforts (just a year before his death), and it's not too funny. The print is a fair condition dupe, printed on the light side which is okay as much of the "ghost" action occurs at night in the haunted house. Lots of surface wear, but it would pass my standard to show to an audience. At $19.99 and free shipping, I went for it and am pleased.

Just received and screened another eBay gamble. This time is RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, the 1944 Max Fleischer/ Jam Handy theatrical cartoon in 16mm sound. Although I have a print of this in Super 8, the Eastman stock turned to the red spectrum and Rudolph's nose was the same color as everything else on the screen. The auction listing said color and sound are "pretty good." Well, it turned out this is on gorgeous unmarked low fade stock and the rich color jumps off the screen--certainly worth the $15.50 I bid plus $3.31 postage!

No one has posted here for a bit (myself included!) Tonight I screened my new Castle Films Musical reel featuring LOUIS PRIMA and Band in a house shaking explosion of bop and swing. This was all pre-Keely Smith days and Shirley Lloyd did the vocal honors with Louis. I am definitely screening this one at the next show.
