I found a treated cleaning cloth designed for cleaning and lubricating movie film for $11.00 + shipping on ebay from 8mmMovieman. I am sure it's cleaning capability it limited to dust removal. Does anyone know anything about this product?

Roger, put $11.00 towards a bottle of Film Guard and use old flannel cloths or cotton tee-shirts. The cloths are going to become black with dirt and need to be replaced or washed.

Roger,
I suspect those are gun cleaning cloths treated with silicone and that's the last thing to put on your precious films. I agree with Dan: invest in a lab tested product such as Film Guard or FilmRenew.

Chris is correct, those are gun cleaning cloths NOT designed for cleaning film. The seller IMHO is a crackpot yet no one ever bothers saying it out loud.

[set5_b/set5_b/smilielol5.gif] Maybe I could use one to clean my print of "A Shot In The Dark".

That would be super8movieman Dave Thomas. Dave does have a large selection of super 8 films though. It would be a good idea to state his auction photos are not screen shots. [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif] I have bought a some films from Dave with pleasant results.

Thanks guys for your opinions. I did not intend on spending $15.00,which included shipping, for the cloths as I am planning to purchase some filmguard soon. The cloth pouches did state that they were for movie film and I wondered if they really worked. By the way Dan did you see my films in the box art thread?

Roger, I sure did. What a great find! The thing about these finds is, should I open them or not? [set5_b/set5_b/willy_nilly.gif]

for what it is worth, I was thinking/typing about the "other" crackpot who sells the same thing for $6.00 [set5_b/set5_b/rofl.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/boxing_smiley.gif]...the results are the same. [set5_b/set5_b/puke.gif]
