Hello,

I feel I have already answered my own question with research but here is my problem anyway:

I recently purchased a Eumig 501 projector that the seller has tested and works fine, when I first turned it on as per instructions and fed in a super 8mm film it worked fine for the first two minutes. The frames then started to slip and it quickly jammed. Taking the projectors covers off led to looking at a load of film that had jammed just below the gate. I tried it again and spooled it along and it did the same everytime.

I think the issue is lubrication on the film but what else could be theproblem?

Ross, welcome to the forum.

I am sure Lee Mannering will chime with his expertise of Eumig projectors. It doesn't sound like the film needs lubricating but, it would not hurt to try it. Do you have a test film so as not to damage any keepers.

Is the the projector?

Hello,

Yep that seems to be the projector from the picture, we have tried lubricating every moving part and taking the covers off to see whats happening still no luck.

It seems that on the take up wheel, it spins fine with no film on it and in reverse. But as soon as it is loaded with film is turns not turn constantly and very gingerly turns round leading to the projector to have loose film inside it and eventually jam. It seems this problem has only got worse - I wonder if there is a gear or something behind the take up wheel that has effectively worn out.

Ross.
