Trying to organize the archive here at Headquarters and I recently came across some films I shot way back when I was 15-16 years old. They were wonderful efforts filled with superheroes, monsters and detectives and averaged about 4-8 minutes, depending on how much film I had on hand. Money was tight, and feeding my Kodak Brownie regular 8mm camera was sometimes a luxury, particularly when I was shooting in Kodachrome. Production was often halted until I could come up with enough money to buy more film. Wellll....lucky me: I discovered good old SUPERIOR BULK FILM COMPANY out of Chicago--and they sold film that was cheap-cheap cheap. I immediately switched from color production to the much cheaper black and white they sold. I eventually bought the equipment and chemicals to process my own film at home, even slitting the old regular 8mm. Anyone else ever deal with this company? Their "catalog" was a newsprint tabloid format, similar to the old Blackhawk Bulletins, and they ran regular ads in photography magazines. .
