Sounds great, Lee! Now if the wife can win the lottery, I can buy those tickets and plan our trip. [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif]

Seriously, I would love to be able to attend either one of these events! So everyone over the pond, make your plans to attend so that we can support keeping film alive and well!

We are so spread out over here in the colonies  , it is hard to get everybody together under one roof. But I have been thinking about the idea of having a Southeast Film Convention. I have noticed a lot of new collector popping up in the Southern states. I can see it now: fried chicken, Budweiser, and tube top waitresses. We could project our films onto an old sheet on the side of a barn. Gosh, it doesn't get any better than that! [set5_b/set5_b/cheers2.gif]

To be honest, Dan, I think you are way better off over there, at least as far as classic film is concerned. You have Cinefest, Cinevent, etc - three whole days of morning til night classic film screenings - not just a few 8mm digests. And, in Syracuse, a huge dealer room with a lot of film.
However, the only thing you had which resembled our BFCC here was John Black's deal in Wildwood. Are they going to carry on with that? If not, then the baton has passed on to you.

Being that I am not involved with Cinesea, I can't say. I think there attendance was very low. No one will give an attendance count but, judging from the photos it looks like somewhere between 10 and 20 people. Maybe someone will give some details on attendance.

Up state New York is a fur piece from here and considering airline tickets and lodging plus food....well, it just isn't within my means. My idea was to look at a map and pick a central location in the Eastern US. Advertise, advertise, then advertise some more. Make it a real showcase event with eye appeal. A good P.A. Make a schedule and have guest speakers who are involved n film collecting and making, etc. I know a couple guys who used to have film conventions in Tennessee. They managed to get guests stars to appear. One year they had Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynters. They showd Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. How cool is that? I will be talking to them soon to get some ideas.

It sounds like a great idea, Dan.

Do you want any "international recording artists" to appear as the evening entertainment?
:D
