Hi everyone,

I need some projector help. I have a Bell & Howell regular 8mm projector. When I got it a few months ago I used it to show some old family movies. It projected onto a screen from about 25 feet and had a nice picture. I tried the same projector the other day, and all I could see was a dim blob of light in the middle of the screen. I tried to move the shaft in and out and twist it but to no avail. But, when I tried to project sitting it on my kitchen counter onto the wall (distance of about 1 foot), I was able to get a perfectly clear and focused picture. Can anyone please provide some guidance on what may be going wrong.

Thanks!
Matthew

If the lens is not advancing forward or back then, it is not focusing. Is the lens moving either direction?

Yes, the lens shaft can move back and forth (and in fact pull out all together and be reinserted). I can also turn the shaft while it is in the slot. And like I said, I can adjust the focus on the very close projection to a clear focus projection. But, not when I am projecting across a distance.

Thanks,
Matthew

What model is your projector? Did you or anyone else touch the projector between the showing when it was good and the showing where the problem appeared?
