Is anyone familiar with the SANKYO STEREO 800? I purchased one in good condition cosmetically and everything works but the sound. You can hear the speakers and the volume increasing and decreasing when control is operated. The tone also appears to be working. The track selector also pops when a track or tracks are selected but when film is ran it produces no sound. Would this most likely be a Sound Head problem and if so is it possible to even find one?

Hi Leon. Do you think the problem is most likely the sound head?

Hi Roger, It sure sounds like it! Let me look around and see. I will Because you said the Amp works. Your getting volume. Its the sound head or a broken wire on the sound head. Check the wires? Leon Norris.

I pulled the sound head and all the wires appear to be connected. There has been a noticeable constant buzz which diminished a bit after removing and then reinstalling the head. I did find this suspicious looking white wire with a bare end exposed next to where the wires run to the head.

Hi Roger, how's it going? Did you replace the sound head yet? Let me know how you made out. Good luck! Leon Norris.

Also Roger, To check the sound . first turn it on . then take a small screwdriver and touch the head. To see if the VU meters move. If they move than the heads are good. Let me know how you made out! Leon Norris.

Sound head is fine. VU meter is registering so there is a problem some place else.
