Finally going thru some projectors I got thru various garage sales, and happy that so many are working fine, the gold has to be the Eumig 810D Super 8/reg 8 sound projector. Even the bulb is working! But, the speed, 18 frames and 24 frames, is a BIT slow, so much so that it is unusable for sound films. Some have said that opening the back, and lubricating the rubber pieces can help? Any advice? Thanks!

Hi Paul. First, welcome to the Forum! As for your speed problem on that Eumig, whenever one of my projectors "slows down", my first move is to replace the drive belt. This often corrects the issue. Belts are readily available on eBay. I don't recommend lubricating any rubber part in the machine. I suggest a new belt.

The 810 D projector has the rubber disc drive. No belt. The motor rides against the disc which makes it go. I have an 804 and that's how it works.

Thanks for the clarification, Mike. My generic advice doiesn't apply in this case! Would you suggest cleaning the rubber drive wheel?

Well I rubbed mine down with denatured alcohol. The rubber looked good. Are there big grooves in the rubber disc where the drive wheel at the end of the motor sets? The motor moves side to side depending on play or rewind. Are the little white looking plastic bushings with the shafts from the motor in them look ok or are they cracked or dissolving? The two little shafts on the motor, one on each side, go in the bushings and that keeps the motor aligned for correct speed and rewind. That happened on a projector I bought. Slow speed poor rewind and then I noticed the bushings were cracked and pieces fell out of them. I had a parts machine so I swapped them out and all is well. Let's start there and let us know what you find.

I cleaned my 810 rubber drive disc with Kaclean Rubber cleaner and remedied the problem.

I also just picked up a Eumig 810 D .A nice machine! Very clean! All functions work! Except the speed! It runs at 24 fps only! No 18 fps. So I pulled the back off. I cleaned the rubber coated disk! That did not take care of problem! So I had to study the problem! So I see a screw! I loosen it up moved it to adjust! And I finally got it! Now I have both speeds! Also put a better lens on it! A F1.2 zoom lens much better! I heard this is a common problem with Eumigs ! Speed problems!
