Okay, I have been reading a lot of scuttlebutt saying that the closing of Derann means the end of Super 8 collecting. This is rubbish!! Derann was certainly a great company, but realistically they haven't released any new prints in quite some time. Sure they had some "new old stock" prints, but a lot of the present sales were used prints. There are several sellers in several countries that find and sell used prints. This is the mainstay of a hobby dealing with collectable items. Phil Sheard at Classic Home Cinema is still turning out new prints. The list of new prints at CHC is quite lengthy, as is the used list. Also new prints are coming out of Germany too. Don't forget Barry Attwood of Independent 8, and Ian O' Rielly, and Steve Osborne's Reel Image. Also the the many Ebay sellers and members on several forums that sell films. I'm sure I have left out some names.

I think the many negatives concerning the closing of Derann are becoming a bit much. [set5_b/set5_b/beatdeadhorse5.gif] Snap out if it and smell the polyester. [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif]

Dear Mr Lail,

I'm afraid I must complain in the strongest possible terms about your total lack of feeling and compassion in the matter of the closing of, or the death of ( because it does indeed feel like a death to me), our beloved Derann.
I have over the weekend managed to bear up under the strain of great personal sorrow and was starting to feel close to normal again when I read your unfeeling comments.
Now it has all come flooding back.... I hope you're happy!!
I have been wept dry of tears, poring over the old used print lists - the titles on which I've never been actually able to buy due to far more deserving members of the faithful getting there first. I'll always wonder how those prints went so quickly, despite my almost immediate response. But, that's Derann for you. They could indeed work miracles.

Film collecting has, in fact, drawn to an end and I have decided, in their memory, to never again even watch anything that comes on a reel.

I trust you and others will have the decency to do likewise.

(cough!)

Mike,

I am so sorry I have caused you much pain with my lack of compassion. [set5_b/set5_b/nopity.gif] Maybe I should seek gudance counselling in order make me more sensitive to the feelings of others. May the light of hope fall down on you in these trying days. Or at least a 250watt halogen. [set5_b/set5_b/smilielol5.gif]

And now a word from our sponsor. Friends, do you have that "not so fresh feeling". Then try our new formula of PC Powder. It's guaranteed to put a bounce in your step, a glow in your face, and best of all, a winning personallity. So, the next time you hear some one say, "I think Bob's has a problem with personal hygene", just whip out your bottle of PC Powder and spray in on.

Not sold in stores. [set5_b/set5_b/spam.gif]
