How well is it built, what's it's pros and cons and is it worth todays asking prices? Would like your opinion.

I don't have an answer for you, Roger.

But, I too am interested in this. I often wondered about the Elmo 800ft models and how they might compare with the Sankyo Stereo 800, which is a beautiful machine.

Hi Mike,

Speaking of the Sankyo 800 stereo there was one, and may still be, on eBay with starting bid of $60.00 with $60.00 shipping. It looked a bit dusty with a few marks on it and don't know what it would actually be worth.

I had one of the Sankyos for a few months. It was a great machine. It did have more bells and whistles on it, in the sound dept, than I needed so I let it go in order to buy an ST1200. I wish I hadn't.

They can fetch high prices here in the UK - in the £200-£300 area. I can't remember what I paid for mine.

Are you thinking about bidding on it, Roger?

Not really, Mike. I just purchased an ELMO GS800 and I have the ELMO ST1200HD. I purchased the 800 from a seller in Canada and got it for a good price, I believe. The seller said it was in mint condition and came with an 800ft reel, manual, microphone, dust cover, and of coarse the power cord. I got the package for under $200.00 post paid.

Sweet. Good price.

Let us know what you think of it, when you use it.

I'll let you know if it is Mint or not after I receive it. In my dealings the GS800 has been a rather rare bird. It may be more common than I realize. The Sankyo stereo 800 is still on eBay and still at $60.00 opening bid and $60.00 shipping due to it being located in Canada. I also saw the operational manual on there for only $2.99 post paid if anyone is looking for one.

Yes, I saw that Sankyo listing. Looks a bit tatty to me but if it's running well, that's a great price. Might just need a bit of a cleanup.

The only fault I found with the Sankyo was that the grille let out too much light for my liking. It made a dark room a little bit too bright. The baffle wasn't very effective.

If you remember I did say that this 800 looked a bit dusty and did have a few marks on it. Since I figured that it would probably be near impossible to get parts for, I decided not to chance it. Parts would be much easier to find for the ELMO.

So, did you get this machine, Roger? How is it?
