There's a Derann Super8 print of The Mummy on ebay right now (about to end soon) with a buy it now price of $800. (If the seller reads this and is a member here .... well sorry - ) I have a print of that one and it is very nice - do we really think they are worth that much these days - maybe we might? I wonder if we are seeing a bit of a spike in prices which will pass in a couple of years? Not really "investments" but let's get it now while we can and hang the price. Whilst I love the Super 8 print I have (mostly for nostalgic reasons I think) the Blu Ray is the way to go for the optimal visual experience.

My own opinion is that no Super 8 print is worth that kind of money.

Strangely though, some folk do pay it.

Well, it didn't sell. Huh! I am sure it's a beautiful print, but that would be quite the piece of change to spend on an investment, let alone on a print just to enjoy owning in your collection. I went way way out on a limb years ago and bought one of the Derann GONE WITH THE WIND prints for $365, which is the most I ever spent for a film. It's my daughter's favorite film of all time and what a pleasure to screen it for her when she visits, but I still think that's a lot for something I seldom put up on the Big Screen.

As it happens, Chris, $365 for the Derann GWTW was a good investment. I'm sure you are uninterested in selling, but, if you should ever do so, you'd pull a lot more than that for it, I reckon.

Mick, yes, I noticed the market prices for that Derann GWTW and, you're right, I'll keep mine for the present. But I'm wondering, are those high prices for the film ON or OFF reels...you know, CORED prints????

I would say 'cored' would fetch the high price...your taking a chance selling it on reels (or spools as some say) !

"Cored" it will be, Bill. I just need to invent something to core Super 8 film and I'll have it made

Selling film on cores puts food in you childrens' mouths. This method of selling high dollar films is also accepted by the Institude of Higher Learning for some forum moderators and administrators......not!
