The Eumigs are fine made machines in my opinion. The only cons I can note are: You cannot remove the film from the film path after it has ran partially through. A larger take up reel capacity would be good. At least 800'.

That is what I didn't like about the S910 & S912 that I have Owned. Film gate access and removing film mid stream is something that in my opinion could have been designed a bit better. For this reason and the ease of accessing working parts of the ELMO makes this JAPANESE made projector my first choice.

I have a Eumig 810D purchased new in 1975. My only issue is that the soundhead runs against the film when showing silent films. I wore one head out when I projected a lot of early L&H comedies. I think they changed this in later models, so the soundhead would only come into contact with the film when showing sound.

Around this time one of the UKs cine mags conducted a test; using a loop of film, they had some machines running continuously, and worked out how many times a projector had shown the film before it started to show signs of disintegration. The Eumig came out second, first place was a Noris.
