What would cause a film to play out of sync with the sound?

The film loop between the aperture and the sound head. If the loop is too big, it can be out of sync. Do you have a loop restore switch?

Hi Dan,

It is not my projector but it is on a EUMIG 802. I understand from the owner that it will jump and get out of sync. I have had my ELMO st1200 do that at the beginning of a film when it did not catch the take up reel tightly and caused a loop in the film. If I rewound it and threaded it again it was fine. I was wondering what would cause one to jump around and get out of sync.
