Coming from a 35mm background I'm most comfortable with manual threading. With 16mm this is no problem. I only own manuals.
How about Super 8, though? I'm aware of the Beaulieu machines which are manual thread up to a point. Are there any other manual thread Super 8 machines?
I would imagine that, 8mm being so thin a gauge, manual threading might be difficult.

Here is an Argus 870 I bought for $2.00. Its a manual load super 8. I have not used it much and bulbs for it are quite pricey.

It's the only manual threading super 8 projector I have ever seen. Anyone else?

I have the Argus 750 which is the regular 8 version of the 870. I knew there was a super 8 version, but I was thinking of a manual threading sound super 8 machine and did not think of this one. Good thinking Mike!

I was wondering why that change was laying there and only realized why when I saw Mike O

Those Argus machines don't look any too kind to film. Would that be correct?

What are your experiences with manual threading of 8mm film in general? I've never done it. It's gotta be pretty fiddly, being so narrow.

Well they are a low end projector but the bulbs are high end unfortunately. The one I have was running smooth and quiet and was really clean but the bulb went and it's on the shelf. I didn't use it long enough to say it's bad on films but I wouldn't use it as my main machine. I don't have any trouble manually threading 8mm, usually it is only putting it in the two sprockets and the gate and laying it on the rollers. I also have a Kodak Sound 8 and it is not really hard at all. I guess I'm just used to it.

I think it is a scratching machine but it is quiet. I only used it a few times so I really can't say for sure

Actually, that particular machine looks easy enough to thread. I was thinking more in terms of the Beaulieu machines which appear to have a more complicated film path.
