Down in the southern US we really do not get many cold snowy winter nights, but I think we are having one of those cycles this year bringing snow and cold, so it's break out the projector. That is, if the power does not go out. Last night it was The Train Robbers on 16mm. Tonight it I will screen a print I just received today entitled Stop Me Before I kill. It's a Hammer Release from 1960.

What are you showing? [set5_b/set5_b/chillpill.gif]

Wellll, expecting 14-24" here in SE Pennsylvania, (I intend to wake at 3AM just to watch the predicted 2' an hour snowfall), I closed shop and hunkered down for the duration. Since I have zero reason to venture out into the storm tomorrow, and the sky will be grey and white, laden with snow, I decided to watch a couple favorites I haven't screened in ages: a 16mm double feature of Technicolor prints of THE JOLSON STORY and JOLSON SINGS AGAIN. I've intended to watch those two for quite some time and tomorrow seems the perfect setting. After that, I suppose there may be some shorts, but haven't given them much thought. Other than that, I will run the Basset Hounds in the snow and maybe later practice coring and uncoring and recoring Super 8mm film using one reel.

The weather here, on the other hand, is disgusting...

Disgustingly warm! We're in the 80s most of this week, or at least 70s. At least at night it's cool enough (47-ish) to not need to run the AC, because the heat of the day is brief enough.

In actuality it all seems very wrong. We don't get a true winter this far south here, but at least normally there's some cooler, wetter months, and right now it's neither. Worst drought in 50 years.

We'd gladly take some snow and Dan's beautiful yard.

Bill, I agree, it is disgusting to have to suffer that arid 80 degrees. [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif] You probably have an un controlable compulsion to barbecue food outside too. I feel your pain. [set5_b/set5_b/smilielol5.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/nopity.gif]

Er. Guilty as charged. [set5_b/set5_b/willy_nilly.gif]

At least I can say it's too cool at night to watch movies outside under the stars. Strictly indoors, and not finding much time right now due to an extra teaching gig... projector looks a little lonely...

Last night had a small gathering of humans and watched Lure Of The Swamp. A nice black and white drive-in feature from 1957 with Marshall Thompson and Jack Elam. Lots of quick sand, but no gator action! 16mm.

Last Night's fine film fare was George Washington Slept Here. This is a print I had been searching for and finally surfaced thanks to a tip from Chris Smith. Unfortunately it was not as described by the seller. It was good dupe with low sound and dark image. I am going to return it tomorrow. [set5_b/set5_b/nopity.gif]

Whoa--say it ain't so! I curious to find this out as just about everything that seller advertises is described as being in top condition, etc. Another print will turn up
