No Jest. I remember seeing a few of these on Ebay years ago but figured it was too much for me. Nowadays I only use the ST line and had forgotten this beast.

They would appear to be some kinda Holy Grail to many collectors. They go for upwards of £700 and they appear to break a lot.
Not for me.
I think there's a little of the Emperors New Clothes about it, myself.

Todd sent me a photo of the GS-1200 gear in question. Are there any sprockets missing from this gear or is it slipping or turning slow?

No everything is intact, the shaft that drives the gear opperates at the correct speed the, gear just slips under load.

I don't have the same projector obviously but I did recently have a problem with my ST1200 suddenly eating films. Not sure if it helps but my lower sprocket had come loose apparently some time ago but finally got so bad that it didn't pull the film. I had to realign the lower sprocket to accept the film then tighten the gear down before it worked again. Not sure how much different the ST and the GS are as far as film transport but I figured the main differences are in sound reproduction.

Thanks for the advice, I'll pull it apart this weekend and clean everything up.I should have a better idea then of how it is supose work.

After working on my St model many times my best advice is to make sure everything is tight. Mine is a different model but I didn't expect it to be built like it is. It seems like after showing a few features and a couple shorts that you need to go through it and tighten every screw in the projector like a Harley. Mine (Different model) works great for months showing films but when you get into the inner workings all the screws loosen even on the sprocket gears and have to be tightened back before I can use it again.

I got my first GS1200 a few weeks ago, and I have to say, it is a great machine, but completely different from my ST1200s in a lot of ways....and a wee bit more complicated as you can see when you take the back cover off

T, I can't tell which gear from the close up photo you provided. Maybe you gives us a closer proximity by locating it on Joe's photo, then I can look on my Elmo GS-1200 while it is running.

T, in your photo is the gear closest to the viewer of the photo?

Yes it is the small gear between the red wires.This gear is behind the rewind motor top left
