Why is it some film sellers (especially online dealers) can't resist loading their websites with their political views? Some of these folks can't offer a Castle Films Woody Woodpecker for sale without injecting their unsolicited opinions. I've been trading films for over 35 years and can't ever recall asking anyone about their politics, nor for that matter, being asked about my own. And frankly, it should be no one else's dog gone business. It just doesn't seem good sales sense though to alienate maybe half the people you might otherwise be SELLING FILMS TO.

Collecting actual film is nowhere near as prominent a hobby as it was years ago (otherwise Castle and Blackhawk would still be around!) Let's keep it fun for everyone. That's what movies should be about. [set5_b/set5_b/rant.gif]

Hey, I voted for Lincoln. [set5_b/set5_b/smilielol5.gif]

I haven't seen any film websites with political views yet. You're right though, it's not good business to mix politics with business. You'll run off buyers straigh out!

I do have one disagreement with this post, I've found that since this recession started that I have gotten amazing deals on not only nice projectors but on films as well. Lately just this year I have bought projectors that used to cost 3 times what people are asking now and not just individual films but entire collections for less than they are worth. I actually think film collecting is way stronger now than it was 10 years ago. 10 Years ago I was on Ebay but no one really knew what they were selling. Everyone was overpricing what they had and there were very few catalog sellers left. Now, with forums like this people who know what they have are able to sell or trade openly and safely. Maybe I'll have to hold some of the collections I have bought recently for awhile until the prices go up a bit but buy cheap, share cheap in my book. Right now I'm buying and selling films I never dreamed of several years ago. I personally think the collector market right now is very strong and people who want specific films are getting them at great prices.

Oh, one thing I do agree on. Political views are not welcome. Our circle of buyers and sellers shouldn't be exposed to another's political or social beliefs. Most of us in this market are here for the preservation of films that may not be on the market publicly. Selling or buying a film based on political views is just stupid and alienates out community. That's like me telling someone what soup to buy with their 3-Stooges print I sell them. Just dumb.
