HOW TO SPOT SOMEONE IN THE WRONG HOBBY, SUCH AS FILM COLLECTING:

#1 When they ask for time extensions to pay $7.25!

#2 When you get suckered into sending films on the Wimpy slogan I'll Gladly Pay You On Tuesday...then get an email every month or so for a year about this or that excuse...but never payment...then emails stop (again under $10.00 total)

Anybody have any other ways to tell? [set5_b/set5_b/rofl.gif]

Wayne, I'll get that payment out to you when my check comes in. [set5_b/set5_b/nopity.gif]

You know you are in the wrong hobby when:

4b is a color stock.

If you have to say "I don't know, that was before I was born".

If you say "reel to reel tapes".

If you say "What kind of camera do I need to show my films on".

If you think airline prints have good color.

If you pay $3.00 for a 1600' reel of film and complain because the shipping cost more than the film.

If someone asks for help on a great deal in your country and you buy it out from under them.

If you need more than one Moderator.

If you think Elmos are for tickling.

If you think Bell and Howell discovered a route to the Pacific ocean.

If you buy films from your friends, receive them, then say they never arrived and would like only a half refund to give to charity.

If you watch porn films with your mother.

more to come......

If you think a 20 minute educational short "Mathematics of the Honeycomb" is worth $570.

If every other package you mail, or every other package you expect to receive gets lost by the post office (or, sometimes, stolen).

You know you're in the wrong hobby when....

Ishtar is one of your favs.

You like watching Ed Wood films while wearing cashmere.

You think reel changes are life styles.

An exciter lamp is up there with Lavas.

LP is a film stock.

Anamorphic is a self reproducing lens.

Polyester is out of style.

Lenticular is a medical condition.

Loved the Ishtar comment. Glad I'm not the only one remembering that film. My serious contribution to the list which I got burned on enough that I quit Ebay was this one simple coment "Found this at an estate sale" usually followed by "The lamp lights up but no film to test" or "It's in an original box". None of them have any idea.

How to spot some in the film collecting hobby who is in the wrong hobby.
If they say:

"Fast froward it".
"I am looking for a print of Song Of The South to show publicly".
"I need a scope print of Gone With The Wind".
"What is analog?"
"My wife is plotting to kill me if I don't get rid of all this s&*%$!"(Of course, you could be in the wrong marriage).
"Jean Renoir was great painter".
