Four of us attended a special showing at the High Museum Of Art in Atlanta last night. It was a film directed by Ida Lupino entitled Never Fear(aka The Young Lovers)1950 in 35mm format. It was a very good restored print with good sound. There were only about 50 people in the large theatre. A woman spoke before the film giving info about Ida being the first woman to direct a Hollywood film and co-wrote the screenplay too. During the film when a scene where someone is being offering a cigarette, the audience would laugh. I found this strange since most Hollywood actors today smoke in films. After the show I approached the woman who gave the speech before the movie to tell her I was a film collector and new a good bit about Ida Lupino and Ida's films. She informed me the curator of the film department had died and she new nothing about films. I guess she was given a paper to read from. [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif]

At least there there were no cell phones and talking during the show.

Ah, yes, those were the days, [set5_b/set5_b/sifone.gif] but alas, my wings have been clipped since then. [set5_b/set5_b/nopity.gif] Besides, she wasn't at all interested in film. [set5_b/set5_b/rant.gif] [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif]
