So one of my New Year's resolutions is to earnestly organize and catalogue my headquarters and archive and commit to computer and paper my collection of films. I started with the 8mm/ Super 8 reels, by taking them off storage shelves and piling them on a workbench, as I did so, carefully noting the titles on a tablet and intending to enter the info into my computer database later. I made note of "The African Queen" and moved the 6 reels off a shelf onto the workbench. Seven or eight titles later in this process, I wrote "The African Queen" again. WHAT?? How, when and why, I don't know.....but I have two prints of the very same film. Anyone ever do this unintentionally????

absolutely I have purchased two of the same titles by mistake. On two separate occasions I have purchased duplicates of t.v. shows not realizing I already had the title [set5_b/set5_b/smilielol5.gif]

I just did this "minus one"!

Last night I found a film on my shelf I have absolutely no memory of buying. Even though I had to have paid for it I have this delightful feeling of getting a free film!

It's a "Look at Life" titled "The Other Film World" about how motion pictures are (...or were) used in industrial and scientific research, and it's prety good!

-best guess? Those last few crazy weeks when Derann was closing I grabbed it and then confused it with my other films about film.

Sounds like a good find in you collection even if you don't remember finding it in the first place. [set5_b/set5_b/willy_nilly.gif]

I have found several films in collections I have bought that were films I had sold in the past. One film I sold a short time back is Dementia 13, a film I wish I had kept. [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif]

I did a search in my E-mails the other day. I bought it from Derann last August.

I guess with all the film goings-on at the time it's just a blur now! Around the same time I bought "Historic Film"(1), which is another film about film. I think my brain merged them together! All I know is they wound up next to each other on the shelf and I realized they weren't the same...

(1) "Historic Film" is about film preservation, and was printed from a damaged negative, as if to prove its own point!
