Does anyone know the status of Blackhawk L & H prints as to public domain?? My Church is considering a L & H film festival - shorts only - no features - and this screening would be open to the public - no admission - but may be advertised in local newspaper. Any help appreciated.

Bill--
The Blackhawk Laurel & Hardy films are not public domain. Blackhawk Films do carry a license, permitting non-theatrical screenings, such as your church group.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the info. We may or may not do this - it's being talked about now.

I get my Laurel and Hardy films from the "16mm free loan Enoch Pratt Film Library." The have most of the Laurel and Hardy films except "The Music Box". These films are "Public Domain" and are available to Church Groups, etc.

The way you get these films is contact your local library and see if they do "Interlibrary Loan."
You can take out 5 movies at a time. They usually give you about a month to have the films.

I am in Florida and I always get my films for the condo I live in.

Check it out. 16mm Enoch Pratt free loan library. Fantastic and rare films.

Good luck.
