Things are off to quite a start in 2016 as some auctions hit the stratosphere. Thought I'd note a few of interest here--happy for the sellers and buyers and it's good to know folks are still shelling out big bucks for the right films....This past week, a 1936 17 minute Educational Pictures comedy GAGS AND GALS sold for an amazing $215.77. The print is uncommon and looked very nice, but WOW. It features a graphic artist of the era, Jefferson Machamer and lots of beautiful models. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161943573070?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

400 feet of 16mm silent newsreel footage of the Korean War sold today for $586.78!!!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/KOREAN-WAR-16mm ... SwHaBWj-~Q

In Super 8 Sound-- the 3-reel Blackhawk A CHUMP AT OXFORD sold for $80.95 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Laurel-Hardy-in ... SwFqJWjZGk

A 16mm episode of HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL went for $213.74 http://www.ebay.com/itm/16mm-Film-Have- ... SwX~dWjMok

BUT--THE REALLY BIG NEWS...hard to believe:
In today's action, a Castle Films newsreel from the World War II era sold for $679...SIX HUNDRED SEVENTY NINE DOLLARS--!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOMBING OF U.S.S. PANAY...ten minutes of newsreel footage---yikes!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-16mm-FILM- ... Swa-dWkBlv

I know these are exceptional, but sure worth noting and remembering as you clean out those film lockers

Great information there. Does seem somewhat exceptional that these newsreels are bringing such high prices.

Maybe our economy is better off than we thought.
