Hi Guys
I posted a "Help Please " a couple of weeks ago and have finally solved the problem , I thought I would post this to maybe help others with similar problems .
The projector is a "Rank Aldis Automatic " which is actually a Bauer P
The projector ran fine but as soon as you turned on the volume the 1.6 amp fuse would blow , so there was a problem with the amp and lamp exciter circuit . I replaced all caps and transistors but still the problem , eventually it turned out to be a bridge rectifier and a little Capacitor that sits right next to it .....now at least the lamp turns on but still no sound , I brought a 5 watt preamp kit from a local parts store ( took about an hour to solder together) and hooked it up to the light pick up ( some people call it a solar cell , some call it a photocell ) anyway I now have sound !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I want it to look original
I spent hours and hours looking over the amp board , cant find anything wrong with the circuit , a lot of the parts are so old and difficult to find replacements or suitable substitute .
So I ve decided to keep the old amp circuit board ( which also holds the lamp exciter circuit ) and connect the photocell direct to the new preamp circuit I made using the old volume controls .The new preamp circuit is tiny and fits perfectly into the housing , I also made up a plug to connect to my Hi Fi . So you can either listen to it on its own or "surround Sound " :)
The sound is great , I still have some work to do so should be finished in a day or two , I will post some Pics when it finished .
The main thing is it looks totally original and I have nt destroyed anything , it now runs off a new amp hidden away inside , I should have many years of fun.
Thanks Guys
