Well, looking at Small Format I see that the issue has changed from how badly Osi was treated by the store to whether or not he should have been arrested.

Just watch the thread being closed now, if I know my apples.

ps: Dan, at least, this time, you or I can't be blamed.

Plus, Hugh reasons the money doesn't 'belong' to the store or any one individual so no theft is involved. :!:

I think you may be right Mike!

Amazing how some people think. I guess stealing is not as cut and dried as I thought. It appears that if you need it or it's not clearly marked with ownership it is not stealing.

Learn something every day.

Bill

One positive thing about this "fingers in the pen jar and the penny tray" topic is that it has brought Mark Silvester back posting on the film forums. I was a member of the old "Silvoscreen Forum" and regret it's closing. Mark has a wealth of knowledge and experience of films and film collecting and I look forward to his future comments. It's a funny old hobby this "reel" film collecting, we try and leave but we always seem to come back. I'm of an age where it's getting a bit difficult to lift the stuff but I soldier on.

Oh, my goodness!!

Can somebody tell Hugh Scott that this is not about "vitriol" against "one of our own".

Osi has been dishonest in his film dealings, has lied, and continues to lie, to all of us, and he can not be allowed to do this just because he is "one of our own". A dishonest seller is a dishonest seller. We do not operate a shelter.

Mick, not to worry, I think most people get it as far as this situation. I just read Hugh Scott's comments you refer to and his logic and statements don't hold water. First, he has NO idea of how the penny tray works (customer does not touch it--cashier does. I know some smaller stores where, if someone pulled a stunt like that, they would find their hands in a fine mess.) And, of course, he tosses out "underdog", "vitriol" and, worst of all, the appaling notion that someone would seriously find offense in a person stealing SIXTEEN CENTS. Uh, yes. Crime is crime. Either it is, or it isn't. (Sort of like saying someone is 'a little bit pregnant'.) And the silly notion of what the police would do, might do, should do is simply a diversion from the issue at hand. Police action, or inaction, somehow qualifies this?? Really? And I would love to know how he found out the coins in the pen jar, the "six silly cents" as Osgood calls them, were actually intended for the cash register, the till--ETC ETC ETC. And so on and so forth, and more so, and then some more of the same, until one realizes this is all as futile as trying to argue what the definition of a "core" is...

Ditto on the "One of our own". This "one" threatened me with a defamation law suit and for taking food out of his childrens mouths all for asking for a straight answer to questions pertaining to film selling. [set5_b/set5_b/toetap05.gif] What kind of moderating is that?? Kevin, you can do better than that. Can't you?
