Famous rock star CX caught with hand in grocery store penny tray. Threatens defamation suit.

Edit: CX, I was kidding about the rock star part.

He's asking for donations.

Well, I don't know anything at all about these "Penny Trays" as we don't have them here in the UK, so I can't comment on that. However, I'm a bit surprised at the plea for donations. I don't get that at all. Surely if someone is considering a law suit, they should be able to fund it themselves. Why would anybody else want to get involved in funding it? Am I, perhaps, misunderstanding this?

Entitlement mentality on display....

...if that video doesn't tell you all you need to know, nothing will.

Bill

P.S. it's usually the store employee reaching in the "tray" to help the customer out, not the customer helping himself!

Is it usual for someone to take as much as 16 cents from these trays?

Yes, but the customer is not suppose take any money. The cashier decides how much to take out in case the customer has no spare change for a purchase. For instance if the total is $1.03 and one does not have the three cents the cashier will at their discression reach in and take three cents and say "don't worry about it". It's good for business. The tray money is for a few cents not ten cents or sixteen cents and defintely not for customers to dip into.
