Here you can post your bad
experiences with unethical film and film equipment buyers and sellers. These can be on forums, private, or internet sales. Be prepared to present proof if necessary.

Seems that eBay Seller "reel-ality"(Osi Osgood) has posted another questionable film sale.
The first questionable listing was the Super 8 feature Gone With the Wind. This one is
entitled "Silly Symphonys Derann Promo reel! Super 8 color sound! RARE".

Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 1379268452

There is no proof or verification that this print is a Derann or was shown at a Blackpool dinner. The information that he gives
is based on hearsay. There is some absurd verbiage that says "Please note: we are working hard to obtain further verification of the authenticity of this reel, and will update, day by day, as we get further verification, but we feel that it is genuine."

The Seller has no documentation or proof, but rather "feels" it is a Derann Promo Reel??? This Seller has won the first "Buyer Beware" award.

Well, my feeling is that until "...further verification of the authenticity of this reel..." has, in fact, been obtained, Derann shouldn't even be mentioned.

The thing is that Derann has such a cult following among Super 8 collectors that this may falsely influence them.

BTW, I'm not sure why Derann would put together a showreel lasting just 5mins or so!!

This is more of a seller beware of a buyer post.

Sellers, you may want to block this user just to be safe against the hassle of having your fees reimbursed when he does not pay for items he bids on. As new as his account is, I have to believe he has done this many times in the past and is a life long douche bag.

He is a prime example of how the one sided feedback system is a total failure...as well as ebay's buyer strike policy. This guy bid, won, and did not pay on 7 items from me alone. Check his feedback, and a few of his "positives" actually describe him not paying. THOSE buyers opted to leave a warning with a positive vs. recoup their fees since you can not do both. EDIT: I am assuming once feedback is left we can not recoup our fees. I am only certain you can not open a case for fees THEN leave any sort of feedback.

Thanks for the heads up, Wayne. I wasn't aware a buyer would lose their "right" to a refund if they posted a negative on a seller.

Chris,

Can't post negatives on buyers but I wish we could again. Soon as you open up a case you can no longer leave feedback.

Thinking about it, I am not positive if you can or can not leave feedback first then open a case. It was an assumption I made without being certain. I haven't tried to leave feedback then open a case because I have automatic settings for unpaid items set up to act on my behalf. I guess I can turn off the settings and wait until the next time it happens.

I left negative feedback on a DVD that I bought; it was made to look like an official release, but it was home produced; the main titles were missing. I was given a return address that turned out not to exist. Ebay refunded my money. I contacted Ebay about counterfeit goods, as this film was not out of copyright; Ebay saw no problem with the advert, and he continues to advertise. I think Ebay is more concerned about losing money. I also contacted Warner Archive, who brought out an official release after I had bought this DVD. They said they would look into it, but heard no more.
