I will show the film on my boat while it is parked in my driveway on it's trailer before doing it on the lake. I can crank the motor in my driveway after the film. The neighbors will not be happy to hear the motor, but they will get over it. Yes, I will have a separate battery just for cranking the motor.

Steve, when I buy the batteries I'll let you know the amp hours. Walmart sells a deep cycle battery.

Probably a couple of these:

OK,

A new battery is the best deal: just remember never put it away discharged or it will stay that way forever!

When you put batteries in parallel Ampere-Hours double. I'm seeing batteries up to 200 AH lately, which is up a lot from when we bought ours.

When I say "separate" starting battery I really mean "isolated " starting battery. There are modules available that allow the aux. battery to charge from the main electrical system but allow you to cut off the current when you turn off the engine. All else fails you could fake one with a Ford starter solenoid.

If you charge your battery from shore power with a charger and don’t connect the two systems you don't need to worry about this.

Dan I think Steve is on the right track. I used two deep cycle batteries for my trolling motor and a third for starting on my boat. What I used was a constant on heavy duty solenoid that would charge the batteries and then isolate the starting battery when the motor was shut off. This was before isolating swiches were avable. We would always have two in the boat and one at camp, changing out the trolling battery every day after use. I can tell you up here when it gets cold theres nothing better than a deep cycle battery and a Tim Hortton coffee in the morring. Have you thought about the screen acting like a sail. Two anchores are better than one.
Have fun.

Lots of rain here too, Ed. It's like an Amazon jungle! As soon as I see a dry Saturday night I am going to do the test run on the boat in the driveway. I will invite a handfull of neighbors. Did I say a handfull of neighbors?? [set5_b/set5_b/hat.gif]
