Howdy All!

I was thinking of getting a back up projector, but I've decided to look into getting a new main (at least new to me)Super 8 Sound Projector and making my current projector my back up. I'll be spending a little more $, so I'll buying in two months or so. That way I can do my homework and save up a little extra cash!

Would love some input from my 8mm Forum WorldWide Friends.

I need an output to run sound to a seperate source (powered speaker/PA) Would like variable speed and just a good solid running projector. Possibly a pro refurb.

This is to become my main projector, so I'm guessing somewhere in the $300.00 price range.

Any input is always appreciated!

Thanks All!

Tim

Tim, I used a super 8 Minolta for years before it finally gave up the ship. Was asked to rebuild a GAF projector which was crap from the beginning. You're best bet is to find either an older Minolta or Elmo. A GAF machine will rip your films to shreds.

Forgot to mention that I had a Chinon projector that I used for almost 5 years. It was the model that included optical sound prints. Was a great projector but the image floated at bit. Still, it never broke on me and the only thing I replaced was the lamp. If you're looking into getting into this format then I could only reccomend the Minolta or Chinon projectors. Just from my experience.

My Minolta was the Sound 6000. The Chinon I had was very similar to the Minolta but included optical sound as well as magnetic. I sold that projector so I have no way of getting
the model number on it.

Hi Tim,

I have an Elmo ST 1200 HD if you'd like. This one could be your main projector (unless you use a GS 1200). This is the next best thing.

I have a Chinon SP 330MV mint in box also. 600' capacity. Of course, I have pics of the two machines.

John
