John, what is the difference between the ST-1200 and the ST-1200 D?

ST 1200 is Super 8mm only. ST 1200 D is dual 8mm. I hope I'm right [set5_b/set5_b/banghead.gif]

I don't know what the D stands for but it is not DUAL. Elmo ST1200D is super 8 only.

I think the ST-1200D is stereo. Hey! why not do a projector review on the ST-1200D. :geek:

Sound features are the only nuances. The HD has two separate monitor inputs and a separate balancing control where as the D has only one monitor input and no balance control. The HD also has a track selector and track indicator lamp if you wish to play your sound films on a 1st, 2nd, 1st AND 2nd playback. A fuller sound with stereo films on the HD. Hope this isn't all too confusing!

Dan,

I must have read your question too quickly as I thought you asked the difference between the D and HD when you've asked about the difference between the 1200 and D.

The D has double recording level and a P.A (Public Address System) which should be used with an extension speaker.

D stands for deluxe. I'm sure this confused people who thought it meant for Dual 8. Can't blame Pat for assuming it stood for standard 8mm when it doesn't play standard 8mm. Alot of happier collectors if these machines played both formats.

Hope this all helps
John

I also forgot to mention that the HD plays stereo films where as the D doesn't. It has a stereo/ mono sound head.

John...thanks for your detailed explanation....typically "D" does stand for dual so that is a bit confusing on the Elmo's.

Good luck on your sale...I already have one and I love it. A real work horse. :D
