Post subject:  Lamp socket problem- NO PROBLEM

In the past year I have had problems with the holes in my Eumigs lamp socket stretching and not supporting the bulb securely. I believe that I have done away with this problem by doing away with the lamp socket. I removed the socket then removed the L connectors at the end of the 2 wires inside. I replaced them with another connector (see photo). Remove the plastic cover at the wire end and crimp wires. Shrink wrap is pictured but not recommended due to the heat produced by the lamp. Simple and inexpensive.

Very innovative, Roger. I like. We'll keep these machines running a long, long time with ideas like this. That is one good way to socket to us. Oink! Oink! [set5_b/set5_b/piggy.gif]

Thanks Dan,

I ran a little under 1 hour of films back to back and everything appeared to function properly with the exception of the shrink wrap. The bulb produces so much heat that the wrapping melts and so it should not to be used.

I'm not sure why you would need an insulator unless the contacts are arching during projection. Looks like you figured out a great way to extend the projector's life in a handyman's way. Given it's only a 100 watt lamp you shouldn't need an insulator. As long as the contacts are far enough away from each other you should be fine with the replacements. Great idea by the way. Just getting into these projectors myself and love them.

Thanks Eric,

They are working fine. I would just like to dress the connectors up a bit.
