The Kalart-Victor 16mm projectors, especially the 70 and 75 series, have always been my favorites. True, their "unique" threading system may take getting used to if you've always run other machines; but they are exceptionally gentle on film, with that instant-stop device that helps prevent damage if you hit a rough spot on an unfamiliar print; and their tube-type amplifiers deliver mellow sound with plenty of power even on low-sound-level "dupes."

One fellow on You Tube has posted a video in which he describes the K-V as "exotic and difficult." No, Jennifer Lopez is exotic and difficult. Kalart-Victor is just a projector that threads backward!

I have always wanted one of these. They are a neat looking machine, but they don't seem to come around all that often.

The Victor and Kalart-Victor machines use a high current exciter lamp much like 35mm theater soundheads did.
