Post subject:  Need Repair Manual Eiki EX2000A 16mm Xenon Portable

As in the subject line I'm in need of a repair manual for an Eiki EX2000A xenon 16mm portable projector, with circuit diagrams.
There's a problem in the xenon power supply unit. I think it's probably in the igniter but the whole xenon psu is dead and the main circuit breaker tests ok as does the fuse below the relay at the rear corner near the 240v supply socket.

I was screening a film when the belt driving the xenon transformer cooling fan broke and the xenon lamp just went out.
No noise and the ignite didn't try to restart the lamp. The lamp looks ok.

Maybe anyone who knows the EX2000A and is familiar with the xenon psu can help?? PLEASE.......*grin* (groan)

Thanks,

Frank

Hello RC, Thankyou for your contact. I'll be in touch through your website later today.
It's Sunday morning here in New Zealand, 2-37 am. We had a 3.7 earthquake at 2-19am which woke my wife and I, so after checking that we had no obvious damage to the property I decided to go online for a while.

Regards,
Frank.

Thought I'd post an update.....

I went through the whole dang dead xenon psu and eventually found a temperature operated, non resettable fuse, all covered up with heat paste and bent around one of the main diodes. It cost NZ$6 and the machine is running ok again now. Thankyou to RC for offering me a manual but unfortunately the cost of getting it to NZ was too much. Expensive postage is a deciding factor when you live in the south Pacific and buy from the UK or USA etc.

Best wishes to everyone, from New Zealand.

Thanks RC but as I explained to you at the time, the bank charges for international transfers and bank cheques from NZ banks had been increased making the total cost about NZ$115.00 which I decided was too much for a repair manual when all I needed to do was painstakingly trace the psu wiring to find the fault. As it happens the factory had many instances of overheating problems with EX2000A projector xenon psu's and advised dealers here to retro fit a heat sensing thermal fuse to stop the transformers and diodes being damaged in any case of a customer fitting a larger than specified xenon lamp, or when using these projectors in warmer regions of New Zealand where overheating had become a problem. Even on a cool day I've noticed that the whole projector gets very warm, particularly around the lamp house, (as expected) and even the base that holds the xenon psu circuits and transformers gets warm. I doubt whether the repair manual would have mentioned the addition of a thermal fuse, and if not, the manual would not have helped me find the problem. At the time, your willing help was much appreciated RC. :)

Regards,
Frank.

Frank, how about this: Richard has a Paypal account. You can make a one time payment to his Paypal eliminating bank fees n' stuff, then he could could ship it to you via First Class International for $16.25 with a value of $35.00 US. I guess since you have repaired the projector this is a moot point. [set5_b/set5_b/gnorsi.gif]
