Anyone know how to identify polyester film from acetate? I have noticed poly has an amber glow when a reel is held up to a light and you are looking through the wound film. I believe poly is hard to tear, unlike acetate. Any more tried methods?

At the bottom of the page is a method using two polarizers (in this case 3d glasses), and putting them one on top of the other so that they're opaque. Then when the film is placed between them and a light shone through, it should remain opaque for acetate and polyester should become visible. I've never personally done this, but you could try it out.

I must have a few hundred pairs of 3D glasses. I'll try the 3D test. Paul Ivester's site is in my favorites for regular reference.
