Some of you may have bought from Classic Home Cinema in the UK. Their 16mm films seem to be very slow at moving, and some titles have been on their lists for more than two years. Where the buyer needs to be careful, concerns the buying of colour prints. Unless the film is IB Tech, which is usually not mentioned, the colour may have deteriorated since the film was first described.
I recently bought a copy of Zulu, which did say fade, but it was listed in the first section, which says 'Quality Guaranteed, no Pinking', and not the end section of prints which they say fall below their usual standards: all those I have seen in this section are pink or pinking. I have had Eastman prints that still have a fair amount of colour left, and this was what I expected, but the scans show what I received, plus proof that the film was listed in the section of better prints. I emailed Phil Sheard, but it's not something he wants to discuss or accept responsibility for. Very wisely he doesn't accept payments by Paypal in the UK.

That's a lot of money for a red print. I have had good dealings with Phil in the past. I'd say a refund should be given. Has he responded to you inquiries?

No, he's not bothering Dan. Credit Card payments are only covered for purchases over £100.

Really?
It's his responsibility, or at least it's CHC's responsibility, and that's that!

I do understand that he's ill at the moment, but somebody at CHC should be dealing with this.

Just personally speaking, if a film has "fade" after it in the description, I wouldn't buy.

I'm in the middle of negotiation with him; I heard from him late last night, after 8pm, which is unusual. Will keep you informed.

Phil agreed to me having a partial refund or credit; I chose to have the refund, but since then I have heard nothing. I have written to him again, enclosing some screenshots. If Phil is a member of this Forum, then he is most welcome to respond as to why he is delaying the refund. I thought we had reached an agreement.

I have heard from Phil, and he will refund £30 on the card that payment was taken from. Once I receive this I will buy a copy of the book on the making of the film. I have a few Eastman prints and they still have some colour. I am satisfied with the outcome.
