This seller has some nice titles but, on questioning, has no idea whether he has dupes or originals there. Bit of a gamble.

Screen shots would have helped in this case. I think the starting bids are a bit high, especially since the conditions are unknown.

Yeah, I agree. I don't think the seller has a projector for screenshots.

I've asked him some questions but he's very short with his replies so I'll not pursue it.

I'd love an original print of FOG ISLAND and MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE, but not interested in dupes.

Hi Mike (and Dan - remove please if inappropriate) - suppose it's OK to say this here as the seller hasn't listed on this site - have a look at the close up view of Murders in the Rue Morgue reels - it appears to be not quite right on the reel? (not nicely and tightly "circular" wind - slight "spoking" I think it's called) anyway looks similar to a print I had which had VS - was considerably worse than what I observe in the photo but might still give me pause.

I saw that, Guy. Looks wavy on the reel. Michael, did you ask if any of the films had a vinegar smell?

I didn't ask. Because he's not sure they're originals I lost interest.

To be honest, the starting prices are not all that bad for a really good dupe. Lets not forget there are some good dupes out there as well as bad originals.

I just don't want the hassle of having to return them if they're poor. I'd be happier starting with the guarantee that they're original. There's more likelihood of getting a bad dupe than a bad original, if you know what I mean.
