These are nice looking machines, very reliable from what I hear and read.
However, they were never, to my knowledge, marketed in the UK. Does anyone know why?
I think in the past ten years I've seen just one turn up on ebay.
I wonder would anyone who uses one of these be willing to put up a report on the "Projector Reports" section?

I bought this one at an auction still in the original box. I figured for 20.00 dollars I had nothing to lose. It came with a 3/4 Buhl lens. As you guessed it throws a big picture. You can see from the tag it came from the US government. Its quiet and uses a 1000 watt incandescent bulb. That's whats in it. The separate speaker sounds fine. Its not as loud as other projectors but does the job. The manual loading is easy and since you can see what is happening with the film less chance of damage. It has the manual loop restore as you can see by the pictures. The rewind has a lever you pull out located just above the top film gate. I have another pageant that needed work when I bought it and I can tell you its tricky to work on as its clumsy, awkward, all around a pain. But once I got the sound working and fixed the broken catch on the arm its fine. They are an all around nice projector but I just don't use them very much. I like the Eiki, Elmo and government model Telex(for outdoor use)better. I know this is not much of a review but if you have any questions just ask.

Excellent pics, Mike. That's one clean machine, well looked after.
I've always loved the look of the Pageants and would love to have one but, as I say, they never turn up over here.
As you rightly say, one can see the film through the whole path. This is vital to me, and one of the reasons I dislike the Eiki slotloads.

That belt running the take-up reel - what material is that?

It looks and feels like a braided cord/string like I have seen in boots or a drawstring in some jackets. Maybe another member can answer better than me.

Well, having said this, I just found out that fellow collector Maurice Leakey picked up a beauty on ebay. spain.

An AV-12M6.

Brilliant.
:D

I don't know if Maurice is a member here, but, if he is, perhaps he'll give us a rundown when he receives it.

A while back I noticed one just like that for sale but passed on it. It was about a 3 hour drive and I was being lazy.

Looks like it's got Magnetic playback as well - hence the "M".
