Greetings Dan And Thanks Wayne for the referall Yes Dan i replace worm gears Dan please visit my web site on 1st page under worm gear just ckick on it This is part of it It takes at least 4 to 6 hours to open / replace that worm gear / and to REASSEMBLE your B&H correctly. Average cost worm gear replacement job costs around $300 per machine plus parts. One could replace only the cracked worm gear, but it is almost the farthest thing into the projector. Half the labor is expended just accessing it. And, the projector probably wouldn't be happy and might have wow in sound and picture instability, because sprocket spindles may be dry of lubrication, a sprocket gear may be warped, sound head needs attention, shuttle needs adjustment, uneven take up drive, etc., etc. |

I agree that Richard is the best for the job but if you do it yourself here's my suggestion. Not the most popular peron on this websight but Urbanski walked me through it on a B&H machine. To keep both top and bottom sprockets from moving, thread a film manually before beginning repair. Even a junk 10' piece of leader will keep them in line. When you finally break it down far enough, with your fingers turn the drive poll with the worm gear counter-clockwise as you remove it so you don't move the sprocket gears. Before removing the origianl worm gear, make a mark on how the worm gear is recieved by the shutter which should be a part of the same piece. When you put the new worm gear in, make sure the last worm gear tooth is in line with the mark you made from the original. When you reinstall the main drive shaft, again make sure you rotate it now clockwise into the other gears. This fix is hard as peaches and takes time but if you follow the directions it can be donw. I recently did this as a winter project on an older B&H autoload projector. I do hate the projector since I don't like autoloads but it works perfectly now when it actually loads correctly. |

Richard has worked on several of my projectors - 100% satisfied - I am very, very fortunate - Richard only lives 20 minutes from me |

Greetings Dan Sure can Follow Erics instructions That should do it Dan what model is it? if it is a 1580/2580 it may need a 015533 Lower Sprocket Gear $35.80 ( see picture on web site) And dont forget to replace the motor belt 0709679 Motor Belt $12.76 And of course Thank you all for the comments RC |
