I have an Eiki Slot Load that will accassionally eat film. It catches on the rear sproket and wraps around it several times. I can't seem to get it to eat a test film while I am watching. Does this projector have something against me? [set5_b/set5_b/leaving.gif]

YUP you and your new 'stash. [set5_b/set5_b/rofl.gif]

How flat does your leader lay that you are using? Possibly a slightly shrunk film that is not letting go of the sprockets in time???

Maybe try a fresh section of leader on the same film that wound up in the machine.

Wayne, I thought this might be the case too. It did it about 35 minutes into a pristine film.

I never trusted these slot-load machines for fear of this happening. It always looked like an accident waiting to happen.

Yikers Dan, I never heard of that happening before.

My honest thoughts would be one of two things.
#1 let R.C. fix it
#2 take a big ass bat to it and find another projector.

Am I the only one with a working Eiki Slot-Load? The model I have is a SL-0. I don't know if it is eomthing rare or experimental but it only has two toothed rollers and that is in the feed and Just out of the gate sprockets. After that there are nothing but rubber rollars and a three platic roller tensioning wheels before it get's taken back the the take-up reel. Mine has no exit sprocket just plastic wheels on a wierd tensioning action. I will say that it has never 'eaten' a film or let me down on features. I'll also say that it hates splices and thows a fit on any splices in a print. It does jump frames for a few seconds but resets itself.

After watching the Super Slot Load on and off during the day, I have seen the take up reel stop turning. I guess the film that got wrapped around the rear sprocket was unlucky. A new take up belt is on the way which should fix the problem. Thanks everyone. [set5_b/set5_b/party.gif]

Erik, as I've said before, you appear to have a strange machine there. I've seen quite a few different slot-loaders and they all have a back sprocket.
